Messi Continues Breaking Records with Inter Miami
Lionel Messi continues to demonstrate his unparalleled talent in football. The Argentine star added a new record to his impressive list of achievements, scoring two goals that led Inter Miami CF’s 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution.
This brace, achieved at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Wednesday night, made Messi the first player in MLS history to score multiple goals in four consecutive league matches, all resulting in victories for his team.
The first goal of the night came after capitalizing on a defensive error by the Revolution. Subsequently, Messi extended Miami’s lead before halftime with a masterful finish, following a precise pass from Sergio Busquets.
This victory represents the second consecutive one for Messi and Inter Miami, following the defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup on June 29.
Messi also scored two goals in the 4-1 victory over Montreal on Saturday. These goals have been fundamental for Miami to climb positions in the MLS Eastern Conference.
Currently, Inter Miami is in fifth place in the standings, seven points behind the leader, FC Cincinnati, although with three games pending. These matches were postponed due to the team’s participation in the Concacaf Champions Cup and the Club World Cup.
Javier Mascherano’s team will return to action on Saturday against Nashville SC.
