Manchester United has revised upwards its annual core profit forecasts, driven by its outstanding participation in the Europa League, which resulted in an increase in ticket sales and broadcasting revenue.

The club forecasts an adjusted core profit of between £180 million and £190 million for the year ending in June, surpassing the previous projection of between £145 million and £160 million.

Ticket sales experienced an increase of over 50%, reaching £44.5 million in the three months ending in March. This increase is due to the team’s good performance in the Europa League, although they ultimately lost the final.

Manchester United had their worst season in the top flight since their relegation in 1974, and hopes of participating in a European competition next season faded.

We had a difficult season in the Premier League, which we all know was below our standards and we have a clear expectation of improvement next season.

United’s total revenue rose to £160.5 million, up from £136.7 million in the same period of 2024, with increases in matchday, commercial and broadcasting revenues. Wages were £71.2 million, a reduction of £20 million, partly due to the absence of the Champions League and January sales.

The club remains committed to and complies with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules and UEFA’s Financial Fair Play Regulations.

United’s absence from European competitions, which are lucrative sources of income from broadcasting, is a blow to future finances and has generated anger and disappointment among fans worldwide.

Jim Ratcliffe, who owns a stake of approximately 29% in the club and directs its football operations, has taken measures to revitalize the club’s fortunes, including job cuts, increased ticket prices, and the suspension of free lunches in staff canteens.

Those benefits are expected to take effect from the first quarter of the new fiscal year, which begins in July, according to the club.

United recorded a net loss of £2.7 million in the three months ended March 31, compared to a loss of £71.5 million a year earlier.
