Manchester United plans to reinforce its squad, according to sources close to the club. The main focus will be on the incorporation of a high-level central midfielder, along with the search for a wing-back.
The team is evaluating various options to strengthen their midfield. Among the names considered are Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, and Carlos Baleba.
Furthermore, analyses have been conducted on Wolves players João Gomes and André, as well as Angelo Stiller from Stuttgart and Conor Gallagher from Atlético de Madrid. The club is expected to continue investing in the squad, taking advantage of its favorable financial situation. The team plans to release several high-salaried players in the next six months, including Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.
The coach, Ruben Amorim, aims to secure the team’s return to European competitions next season.
Although the club approaches the January market with caution, no possibility is ruled out, especially given the time remaining before the market opens and the possibility of plans changing.
United invested more than £200 million in new players last summer, including Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens.
Despite these investments, the management recognizes certain limitations in the current squad that Amorim is working with.
Cunha and Sesko’s injuries limited the options on the bench during the 1-0 defeat against Everton, where the opposing team played with ten men for more than 75 minutes.
This result left United in tenth place in the table, just one point off the top six and three points off the top four, before the match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
