Maguire Rejects United Exit: Wants to Stay and Renew Contract
Harry Maguire has revealed that Manchester United rejected inquiries about his availability this summer, hinting at his desire to extend his stay with a new contract. The central defender, who is in his seventh season with the club following his £80 million transfer from Leicester City in 2019, has confirmed interest from other clubs despite United extending his contract until 2026.

I think there were a couple of clubs that maybe asked or spoke to them [United] and I think they got a quick answer.

Maguire, who spoke at a Manchester United Foundation holiday camp at Stretford High School, added: “I’m pretty sure the club has made it clear this summer that I can’t leave under any terms, with other clubs asking about things and my position with my contract.” The 32-year-old player also highlighted the club’s evolution since his arrival, emphasizing the structural changes in the management staff.

Currently, Maguire is in the last year of his contract, and could start negotiating with clubs outside the Premier League from January if he doesn’t reach an agreement with United. Although he didn’t reveal details about his future, Maguire suggested his preference for staying at Old Trafford.

I’m sure in the coming months they will sit down and we will have to have a conversation about where we want to go and if they want to extend or, obviously, the transfer market will open again in January.

Maguire concluded by stating that he is clear about his goals and that playing for Manchester United is an exceptional opportunity.
