Luis Enrique Analyzes PSG’s Champions League Triumph

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique expressed his satisfaction after the resounding 4-0 victory against Atalanta in the Champions League opener. The Spanish coach, known for his tactical approach, watched the first half of the match from the stands, a practice he repeated after his experience in the Ligue 1 match against Lens.

I’m doing the same thing as in the last match because, from above, I get a lot of information that I can use at halftime. Having more information is important for me.

Luis Enrique, who suffered a collarbone fracture in a bicycle accident, returned to the bench for the second half of the match. In the pre-match press conference, he explained that this new perspective allows him to analyze the game more objectively. He highlighted that this methodology, similar to that used by rugby coaches, gives him a different view of the game.

It’s very different watching the match sitting down. My halftime talk against Lens was totally different because I was upstairs. I saw things to improve, some mistakes. I’ve thought for a long time about how we can add something to our way of doing things, and I’m always open to anything that can improve our performance.

The next challenge for PSG will be a match against Barcelona on October 1st. Luis Enrique, who led Lionel Messi’s Barcelona to glory in 2015, commented on his team’s performance.

With the quality of our players, there are no surprises. We just need to improve certain things.

For his part, Atalanta coach Ivan Jurić acknowledged PSG’s superiority.

We can’t be too disappointed with ourselves because they are a truly incredible team. We did very well in the first 10 minutes, but then it got difficult.
