Liverpool secures the signing of young forward Will Wright
Liverpool has finalized an agreement to sign forward Will Wright from Salford City, surpassing Arsenal’s interest. This is confirmed by sources close to the club.
Wright, 17, debuted with Salford in the EFL Trophy against Wolves U21 last November.
The young player, known for his goal-scoring ability in lower categories, participated in two League Two matches last season.
According to sources, Liverpool will pay an initial fee of £200,000 (approximately $267,000) for the striker, with additional agreements already agreed.
The appeal of the Liverpool project and the possibility of staying in the northwest of England were key factors in the player’s choice of the Premier League champions over Arsenal.
After completing his transfer to Liverpool, Wright will join the Under-21 team, now managed by former Wales coach Rob Page.
The appointment of Page came after the departure of academy coach Barry Lewtas, who was in charge of various age groups during his 12 years at the club.
