Liverpool have announced the construction of a permanent sculpture at Anfield in memory of Diogo Jota. The club has also confirmed that the players will wear a “Forever 20” emblem on their shirts and stadium jackets this season.
In addition, the club announced a special commemoration that will include a fan mosaic and a minute of silence before the season’s opening match against Bournemouth on August 15.
Thousands of flowers, scarves, banners, and other tributes have been placed in front of Anfield since the passing of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva in a car accident on July 3rd.

The club reported that the tributes have been removed and stored during the last week. The floral offerings will be composted and used in the gardens of the club’s facilities, including Anfield, the AXA Training Centre and the AXA Melwood Training Centre.
The remaining objects will be recycled and used to create a permanent commemorative sculpture that will become a central point of remembrance at Anfield.Liverpool had already announced, after consulting with Jota’s family, that his number 20 jersey will be retired at all levels of the club, including the women’s and academy teams.
Fans will be able to print “Diogo J. 20” on the shirts in the club shops, and the profits will go to the LFC Foundation, the club’s official charity. The foundation has pledged to create a grassroots football program in Jota’s name.
A floral tribute will also be placed before the start of the pre-season matches in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Anfield.
