Donnarumma Questions Italy’s Performance After Defeat Against Norway
Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma expressed his discontent after Italy’s 3-0 defeat to Norway in the start of the World Cup qualifying phase.
Italy, which has failed to qualify for the World Cup since 2014, suffered a tough defeat in Oslo. Goals from Alexander Sørloth, Antonio Nusa, and Erling Haaland left Italy in a complicated situation in their attempt to reach the United States, Canada, and Mexico next year.
I have no words. We need to take note of tonight’s performance and improve; our fans don’t deserve this. We need to examine our conscience, we need to get out of these nights together.
Gianluigi Donnarumma
Donnarumma, who played six days after winning the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, emphasized the need for unity and responsibility within the Italian team.
Coach Luciano Spalletti also commented on the defeat, highlighting the lack of enthusiasm and the need for changes in the team. Spalletti admitted that difficult conversations with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) are looming regarding his position.
Spalletti pointed out the team’s fragility and lack of confidence as key factors in the defeat, indicating that individual quality is not enough without a proper attitude.

Spalletti also expressed his concern about the current situation, acknowledging the need to analyze the problems and seek solutions.
