Guardiola Reveals Details About the Missed Penalty in the FA Cup Final
Pep Guardiola has shared his impressions on the penalty missed by Manchester City during the FA Cup final, where the team was defeated 1-0 by Crystal Palace.
The coach admitted that he expected Erling Haaland to be the one to take the penalty, but in the end it was Omar Marmoush who took responsibility.
“They decided on the field. I don’t know. I didn’t speak with them. I thought he [Haaland] would want to take it. It’s their business.”

Guardiola explained that the decision was made by the players at the time, based on their feelings. He highlighted the good save by Dean Henderson, the opposing goalkeeper.
The penalty was awarded after a foul by Tyrick Mitchell on Bernardo Silva, following Eberechi Eze’s opening goal for Palace.

In addition to the penalty, Guardiola and Henderson exchanged words at the end of the match, apparently due to the Palace goalkeeper’s time-wasting tactics.
“He defended his position, we defend ours. Everyone can do what they want. We have to score goals. Congratulations to Henderson and Palace because they defended very well and we couldn’t score a goal.”
