The excitement of soccer intensifies as Guadalajara and Monterrey, in Mexico, prepare to host the intercontinental repechage tournament for the 2026 World Cup, as announced by FIFA this Wednesday. This tournament, which will begin on March 23, will bring together six teams from five different confederations, who will compete for two coveted spots for next summer’s World Cup, which will be held in Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

In addition to hosting the repechage tournament, the stadiums in Guadalajara and Monterrey will also be venues for World Cup matches.

The teams that will participate in this crucial tournament are: Iraq, Congo, Jamaica, Suriname, Bolivia, and New Caledonia. The draw to define the pairings will take place on Thursday in Zurich, and the match schedule will be announced later. During next year’s World Cup, the Guadalajara stadium will host four group stage matches, while the Monterrey stadium will host three group stage matches and a round of 32 match. The recently renovated Azteca Stadium will also be one of the Mexican venues for the World Cup.
