Oliver Glasner Denies Tensions at Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has firmly denied rumors of a possible resignation threat due to the failed transfer of Marc Guéhi to Liverpool. English defender Marc Guéhi was close to joining Liverpool before the deal fell through on the last day of the transfer market. Given Glasner’s stance against the transfer, speculation arose about tensions between the coach and the club president, Steve Parish.

I never threatened to leave the club, never. I didn’t have to threaten anyone.

Glasner, whose team will seek to extend their unbeaten run in the league against Sunderland at Selhurst Park this Saturday, clarified the situation. “There were no bad tensions between the president and me. It was really just a discussion about sports, and he decided against the money and in favor of the sporting perspective of Crystal Palace. Great credit to the president,” he added.

Glasner also praised Guéhi, highlighting his commitment to the club. “It’s clear that he stuck to his contract. It’s a credit to Marc that he never threatened to go on strike. He is a very honest person, that’s why I never worried about this situation. He will be our captain as long as he is here, because he is a great player and a great personality,” he commented. The summer signing, Yeremy Pino, could start for the first time with Palace after debuting as a substitute in the 3-0 victory against Aston Villa before the international break.
