Tottenham Hotspur’s coach, Thomas Frank, has defended his captain, Cristian Romero, following a social media post that sparked controversy. The post, in which Romero apologized to the fans and which was subsequently modified, came after Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth.
In his original post, Romero had also written: “They only appear when things are going well, to tell some lies”. Ahead of Tottenham’s FA Cup clash against Aston Villa, Frank defended his captain, although he admitted the post was a “mistake”.Sometimes, it should be other people who speak, but they don’t, as has been happening for several years.

Frank also mentioned that he had a conversation with Romero and sporting director Johan Lange about the incident, keeping the details of the conversation internal. Regarding the team’s injuries, Frank reported on the situation of several players. They are still waiting to know the severity of the injuries of Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall, who were injured against Bournemouth. Regarding Mohammed Kudus, Frank indicated that his tendon and quadriceps injury is more serious, and he is not expected to return until after the March international break. Regarding Dejan Kulusevski, Frank explained that his injury is complicated and it will be known in a few weeks if the injection he received has worked for his recovery.I think after Romero became captain he has done many good things. I said when I named him captain that, despite being an experienced player, he has tried a lot, he is still a young leader.
