Firmino Leaves Saudi League: Signs for Al Sadd of Qatar
Roberto Firmino confirms his departure from the Saudi Professional League. Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino has confirmed his departure from Saudi football to join Al Sadd of Qatar. The announcement comes after Al Ahli, a team in the Saudi Professional League, confirmed his departure on Wednesday. Firmino has signed a two-year contract with the champion of the Qatar Stars League, after having led Al-Ahli to the conquest of the Asian Champions League title in Jeddah last May.

I am happy because we made history at the club during these two years together. The best moment was becoming Asian champions. I am very grateful for this.

Roberto Firmino
Firmino spent two seasons with Al Ahli after arriving from Liverpool. He played a key role in the club’s first victory in a continental title, scoring six goals in 12 matches in the Asian Champions League. Provided assists for both goals for his club in the victory over Kawasaki Frontale of Japan in the final in May, becoming the first player, along with teammates Riyad Mahrez and Édouard Mendy, to win continental titles in Asia and Europe. His performances earned him the competition’s most valuable player award. The 33-year-old player joins an Al Sadd team that won the national title last season and qualified for the next edition of the Asian Champions League.
