Esther González Extiende su Contrato con Gotham FC hasta 2027

NWSL’s outstanding goal scorer, Esther González, has renewed her contract with Gotham FC, ensuring her stay with the team until the 2027 season. The news was confirmed by the club this Thursday, solidifying the presence of a key player in the attack of the New Jersey/New York team, after a season of significant changes.

González, 32, leads the league with seven goals in nine games this season, demonstrating his best form since joining the club in 2023. Her arrival at the team was followed by her victory in the Women’s World Cup with Spain.

Weeks after her arrival, González became the team’s heroine, scoring the winning goal in Gotham’s 2-1 victory over Seattle Reign, securing the first championship for the club.

The X factor has been the team. It’s all down to the team and the hard work they’ve been putting in. There’s been a mountain of work behind all of this. Everyone is fighting together and working together.

González, who was Real Madrid’s second all-time top scorer with 39 goals in three seasons, brings stability to the team after the departure of several key figures.

Gotham FC received a boost with the return of forward Midge Purce, who played again in April after being out for a year due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Esther González has extended her Gotham deal to 2027.

González, who stated that the club has made her a “more complete” player, highlighted that Gotham has adapted to the changes while maintaining a consistent style of play.

Extending his contract with the team was “a very easy decision”, González stated.

Yael Averbuch West, general manager and head of soccer operations, stated that “Esther is a proven goal scorer who has had a great impact on our club. We are excited to extend her time at Gotham FC and look forward to her continued success.”
