Echeverri heads to Bayer Leverkusen, Nypan to Middlesbrough

Manchester City forward Claudio Echeverri is preparing to join Bayer Leverkusen on loan. The young Argentinian prospect will spend the season in the Bundesliga before returning to City. According to sources close to the negotiation, the agreement is based on a direct transfer, without a purchase option for the German club. Bayer Leverkusen, led by coach Erik ten Hag, beat out competition from several major teams to secure the arrival of the talented footballer. Echeverri, signed by City in January 2024 from River Plate, debuted with the team at the end of last season and scored his first goal in the FIFA Club World Cup.

On the other hand, City’s young star, Sverre Nypan, joins Middlesbrough, a Championship team, on loan until the end of the season. The promising 18-year-old player arrived at City from Norwegian side Rosenborg at the beginning of the summer, signing a five-year contract. Nypan, who sparked strong interest from Arsenal in January, has played 70 matches for Rosenborg since his debut in the first team at the age of 15. Middlesbrough has had a successful start to the season, beating Swansea and Milwall in their first matches.
