Diogo Dalot, Manchester United player, has highlighted the construction of a team characterized by unity and collective effort under the direction of Ruben Amorim. The team seeks to recover from its worst season in more than half a century. Manchester United’s performance in the previous season, culminating in 15th place in the league, represented their lowest position since their relegation to the second division in 1974. The pre-season victories against West Ham and Bournemouth on the US tour have generated optimism about the direction the team is taking under Amorim’s management. Dalot emphasized that the most significant change is in the mentality within the locker room.

I think we are creating a group that fights for each other.

The coach made a strong statement before the trip to America by leaving out key players like Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia.

Marcus Rashford, who was relegated last season after Amorim’s arrival in November, has also been authorized to join Barcelona on loan. Luke Shaw has already backed the coach’s stance, while Dalot pointed out that this is part of an effort to raise standards at Old Trafford.

He [Amorim] is very clear in his messages that you want to be part of the team or you can’t be here.

Dalot added that the message is clear: if you start the preseason, it’s because the coach believes in you and in the group that needs to be there. For a while, there was a possibility that Bruno Fernandes would not be part of Amorim’s team due to a lucrative offer from Al Hilal in June. However, the United captain rejected the opportunity to leave, and Dalot expressed his satisfaction with his Portugal teammate’s decision to stay in the renewed team. Dalot says Fernandes’s stay sends a clear message of faith in the club’s future.

I think there’s no better way to start a season than with your captain staying and believing that this can go in the right direction.

Diogo Dalot
The player concluded that this is a clear message for all teammates, urging them to believe and work hard to return Manchester United to the place it deserves.
