Cunha Claims the Number 10 Jersey at Manchester United, Rashford Looks for New Horizons

The new Manchester United signing, Matheus Cunha, will wear the number 10 jersey, a number previously belonging to Marcus Rashford. This was confirmed by the Premier League club this Tuesday, marking a significant change in the team’s configuration. Cunha, who arrives from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal valued at 62.5 million pounds (84.6 million dollars), already wore this number at his previous club. Rashford, who has been out of the team since December and spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, has been informed by the club’s directors to delay his return to Carrington while he seeks a transfer away from Old Trafford. Preseason training for the rest of the team began on Monday. Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia have also informed United of their desire to move on this summer and have been granted an extended break to arrange their transfers. The five players are expected to return to United at the end of July if their transfers do not go through.

Ruben Amorim and his team will travel to Chicago for a three-match tour of the United States on July 22. Aston Villa has decided not to exercise the purchase option to make Rashford’s transfer permanent for £40 million. The valuation remains the same for any club interested this summer, but so far United has not received any formal offers. Sources close to the player indicate that his representatives expect Barcelona to intensify their interest, now that Nico Williams has ruled out joining the Catalan club by signing a new long-term contract with Athletic Club. Bayern Munich is also looking for a winger and was previously linked with Williams. Barcelona has also shown interest in Luis Díaz, but Liverpool remains firm in its position not to listen to offers for the Colombian. Rashford’s preference is to play abroad and participate in the Champions League. He still has three years left on his contract with United and the club will consider loan offers for one season, as long as a large part of his salary can be covered.
