Columbus Crew: New Investment and Million-Dollar Evaluation
The Haslam Sports Group has finalized the sale of a 10% stake in the Columbus Crew to the Edwards family, raising the franchise’s valuation to an impressive $900 million, according to recent reports.
The Edwards family, already part of the MLS team, now owns 30% of the club. Haslam Sports Group, the parent company of Jimmy and Dee Haslam’s sports assets, maintains control of the remaining 70%, according to the report.
Earlier this year, the Columbus Crew was estimated to have a valuation of $730 million, ranking eighth in MLS.
The team did not comment on the transaction.
The Crew managed to be crowned champion of the 2023 MLS Cup and the 2024 Leagues Cup, and has managed to sell almost all tickets for home games since the inauguration of Lower.com Field in 2021, with an investment of 314 million dollars.
Haslam Sports Group also owns the NFL’s Cleveland Browns and holds a majority stake in the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks.
