Philippe Coutinho did not meet expectations during his time at Aston Villa.
Aston Villa has officially announced the permanent transfer of Philippe Coutinho to the Brazilian club Vasco de Gama.
Coutinho, who was on loan at the Brazilian team last season, played in 31 matches and scored five goals.
This transfer brings an end to an unremarkable stage for the Brazilian international in Birmingham. Coutinho initially joined the club on loan in January 2022. His eight goal contributions in the second half of the season convinced Villa to sign him on a permanent four-year contract.
However, Coutinho failed to maintain his level in his first full season at Villa Park, playing only 22 matches in all competitions. Subsequently, he spent two seasons on loan at Al-Duhail of Qatar and at Vasco de Gama.
Everyone at Aston Villa thanks Philippe for his services to the club and wishes him the best in his future career.
