Conte calls for calm as Napoli chase Serie A title
Napoli coach Antonio Conte has called for calm as his team prepares to secure the Serie A title on Friday. Despite being suspended and unable to direct from the bench, Conte emphasized his deep sense of responsibility towards the city and the fans.
Napoli is one point ahead of Inter Milan in the standings, a team that will face Como away on Friday. Napoli’s final match of the season will be at home against Cagliari.
“We’ve been through a very demanding season and clearly this could be the last match that closes a season for me in a new place, a new environment, where we obviously feel the responsibility to give Naples, the fans, something beautiful and historic,” Conte stated.

Conte will not be able to be on the bench due to a suspension, after a previous match where tensions rose during the goalless draw against Parma. The coach and Cristian Chivu, Parma’s coach, were sent off after an argument at the end of the match. Simone Inzaghi, his counterpart at Inter, will also be in the stands after being sent off in the 2-2 draw against Lazio.
“I’m sorry not to be there. After a season like this, you want to be there, with your fans, to lead the team,” Conte added.

The coach trusts his technical team and the support of the fans, despite not being able to be physically present. Conte hopes that the fans will continue to show their unconditional support, as they have done throughout the season.
Conte has assured that he will face the match against Cagliari like any other, with respect for the opponent. He emphasized the importance of playing seriously to have more chances of winning and to culminate the work that has led them to this instance.
If Napoli secures the Scudetto, Conte would become the first coach to win Serie A with three different teams, following his successes with Juventus and Inter Milan.
Conte emphasized the need to maintain focus and not give up. The 55-year-old coach inherited a team that was coming off a complicated season, but is now on the verge of achieving an important milestone.
The city of Naples is filled with enthusiasm at the possibility of celebrating a second title in three years, an achievement that could be one of Conte’s greatest.
Conte, after Napoli’s penultimate match, only had one message for his players: “Let’s go for this Scudetto!”
