Manchester City Withdraws for Florian Wirtz
Manchester City has decided to withdraw from the race to sign Florian Wirtz, according to reports. The German midfielder had been considered as a possible successor to Kevin De Bruyne, who will leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season.
After conversations with Bayer Leverkusen, Wirtz’s club, and his representatives in Manchester last week, City has chosen to focus on other targets.
Sources close to the club indicate that the directors believe that the finances involved are not viable and that Wirtz is destined to join Bayern Munich in the summer.
City has other options to reinforce its midfield, including Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest.
