Chelsea targets Ajax’s young prospect Jorrel Hato
Chelsea has set its sights on Ajax’s young defender, Jorrel Hato, to strengthen its squad for the new season. This was revealed by sources close to the club.
According to the information obtained, Chelsea has shown interest in the player, although they have not yet initiated formal conversations with Ajax.
Hato, 19 years old, can play both as a left-back and a central defender. He has established himself as one of the brightest prospects in Dutch football, debuting with the senior national team in November 2023.
Despite his young age, he has been a regular player at Ajax for the last two seasons, attracting the interest of several of Europe’s most important clubs.
Arsenal were also linked with the player last summer and at the beginning of this one, but ultimately chose to reinforce their defense with the incorporation of Valencia center-back Cristhian Mosquera.
Chelsea values Hato’s versatility in defense and believes he fits perfectly into the plans of Enzo Maresca, who is looking for a defender who can also contribute in midfield, especially in bringing the ball out from the defense.
Chelsea is also considering reinforcing other positions and, according to sources, is monitoring Alejandro Garnacho’s situation after Manchester United decided to leave him out of their pre-season tour.
