Chelsea signs Jorrel Hato: Agreement with Ajax for €43.5M, Dutch Defender Strengthens

Chelsea has finalized an agreement to sign defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax. The news, revealed by sources close to the matter, indicates that the transfer will be closed for a considerable sum. The 19-year-old will join the Premier League club in a deal valued at 43.5 million euros ($50 million), excluding bonuses. The initial offer from Chelsea was rejected last week, but negotiations continued until an agreement was reached. Hato has been a fundamental piece at Ajax, accumulating 111 matches since joining the club’s youth academy in 2018. His debut in the first team took place in 2023.

The international Dutchman has the versatility to play both as a central defender and as a left back. In addition, he made his first appearance with the national team in 2023. Hato has been a regular player for Ajax in the last two seasons and has been wanted by several of the biggest clubs in Europe. Previously, Hato was linked with Arsenal last summer and earlier this year.
