Changes in the Manchester United Hierarchy: Dave Brailsford Reduces His Role
Manchester United continues to experience significant changes in its football operations. Dave Brailsford, a key figure in the club’s structure, will reduce his active involvement, according to sources close to the situation.
The source, who requested anonymity because the information has not yet been made public, confirmed the news.
Brailsford, recognized for his role in the British cycling Olympic success, was a crucial element in the restructuring of United led by the billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, following his minority investment in the club last year.
However, the results have not been as expected. The team, winner of the Premier League on 20 occasions, recorded its worst position in the Premier League era last season, finishing in 15th place, with its fewest points and highest number of defeats.

This is the latest in a series of changes that have taken place at United over the past year, since Ratcliffe invested £1.04 billion ($1.3 billion) for an initial 25% stake in the club. Ratcliffe took control of football operations from the Glazer family, the majority owners, and vowed to return the team to its glory days.
During this period, high-profile hirings and firings have occurred, as well as new lows in the playing field and staff cuts.
The former coach, Erik ten Hag, left the club in October, just three months after receiving a one-year contract extension.
The director of football, Dan Ashworth, left the club less than six months after taking the position, following lengthy negotiations to remove him from Newcastle.
Omar Berrada was recruited from Manchester City to become CEO and Jason Wilcox, formerly the City academy director, became technical director. Both remain in their positions as key members of the leadership team above coach Ruben Amorim.
