Bayern Munich Seeks to Extend Harry Kane’s Contract

Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has hinted at the possibility of extending the contract of the English national team captain, Harry Kane. Kane has had an impressive performance since joining the Bundesliga giant, reaching 100 goals in just 104 matches in his last match against Werder Bremen. Despite speculations about a possible return to the Premier League and rumors about a release clause in his current contract, which ends in 2027, Kane has not shown interest in a team change. Eberl made it clear that the club is open to an even longer stay for the star striker.

“Harry is a key player for us, he wanted to come to Bayern because he really likes playing here and winning titles. He wants to stay for a long time, so we are going to talk about the next steps,” Eberl stated.

Eberl is also working to ensure the continuity of Dayot Upamecano, whose contract ends at the end of the season and who is being linked to teams like Liverpool and Real Madrid.

“I’m not surprised that many clubs are interested in Dayot. We are also interested in extending his contract, and that takes a long, long time,” added Eberl. “We are trying to convince him of the Bayern Munich project. We want to keep him.”

The Bayern’s Tuesday night match at the Alphamega Stadium against Pafos represents the first encounter between both teams. Bayern arrives as the clear favorite.

“The danger with Pafos is that everyone expects us to win. We want to win, no doubt, but it’s always more complicated away from home,” commented Eberl. “We need to show our qualities tomorrow: that energy, that determination, that dominance we have. If we can do that, we should win the match.”

Bayern will not have Josip Stanisic, Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Jonas Urbig, and Hiroki Ito, but will travel with a strong and experienced squad, including goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who will make his 152nd appearance in the Champions League, tying Karim Benzema for fifth place on the historical list. Pafos, which has former Chelsea and Arsenal defender David Luiz in its squad, faces this difficult match with some confidence after achieving a draw with 10 men against Olympiacos in their last match.
