Barcelona close to securing Roony Bardghji

Barcelona is in the final stages of signing FC Copenhagen winger Roony Bardghji, according to sources close to the club.

The Barça’s sporting director, Deco, met with the player’s agent on Monday, and an agreement for 2 million euros, plus bonuses, is expected to be finalized. Bardghji’s contract with Copenhagen expires in December, which justifies the low transfer sum.

Bardghji, born in Kuwait but with Swedish nationality, is 19 years old and missed a large part of last season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury. He is considered a promising young footballer in Europe and had already been linked with Barça.

Before his injury, in the 2023-2024 season, he scored 11 goals, including one in Copenhagen’s surprising 4-3 victory over Manchester United in the Champions League group stage.

Sources indicate that Barça sees Bardghji as a talent for the future, although it is not yet clear whether he will be part of the first team or will start playing with Barça ‘B’.
