Hürzeler Isn’t Afraid of Offers for His Stars at Brighton
Brighton coach Fabian Hürzeler has expressed his confidence in the possibility of losing key players during this transfer market. According to sources, midfielder Carlos Baleba has aroused the interest of teams such as Manchester United and Manchester City. The Brighton has set a price of 120 million euros for the Cameroonian international, who joined the club in 2023 from Lille. Baleba was a key player last season, where Brighton finished in eighth position in the Premier League. When asked about the possible loss of his best players, Hürzeler stated: “I feel no fear.” The coach emphasized the importance of the team’s unity, acknowledging that, although they cannot compete in spending with the big teams, cohesion is one of their greatest values. The Brighton have made some additions in this market, including Charalampos Kostoulas, Maxim De Cuyper, Italian international Diego Coppola and Tom Watson. Baleba, who missed the last pre-season friendly due to a knee injury, is on track to play in the first Premier League match against Fulham on August 16. Hürzeler commented that the club always finds solutions and that they are prepared for the future. He recalled that Brighton has sold players for large sums in recent seasons, such as Moisés Caicedo, João Pedro, and Marc Cucurella. The coach also highlighted that the club has shown that it doesn’t always sell its star players, rejecting significant offers for other players like Kaoru Mitoma. Hürzeler concluded by highlighting the importance of team unity and the existing chemistry to compete with the bigger teams, even those with superior individualities. No, I don’t feel fear. I fear nothing because the only thing we can do is be the best version of ourselves every day, work as hard as we can.
