Arsenal close to signing star players

Arsenal is on the verge of finalizing significant moves in the transfer market, according to sources close to the club. Negotiations are focused on strengthening various key positions for the upcoming season.

Viktor Gyökeres, the star striker

Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres is reportedly very close to becoming a new Arsenal player. A five-year contract has been agreed with the 26-year-old player, and talks between the clubs have intensified in recent days. Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, traveled to Lisbon to meet directly with Sporting’s president, Frederico Nuno Faro Varandas, and the club’s new sporting director, Bernardo Palmeiro. An agreement is expected for a figure close to 65 million euros. Although the structure of the agreement is still to be defined, the London club is optimistic about the possibility of finalizing the signing. Gyökeres, who scored 54 goals in 52 matches across all competitions last season in Portugal, was Mikel Arteta’s choice to be the star signing of the summer, above Benjamin Sesko.

Seeking reinforcements in the attack

In addition to the search for a center forward, Arsenal is actively looking for a left winger. Conversations with Chelsea and Noni Madueke are positive and ongoing. Agent Ali Barat is involved in facilitating the agreement, and there is already an agreement between Arsenal and the player, as with Gyökeres, for a five-year contract. Negotiations with Chelsea could conclude this week, with a fee close to 50 million euros. Chelsea signed Madueke from PSV Eindhoven in 2023 for 35 million euros. Arteta has always been a great admirer of the English international, and Arsenal considered signing him last summer. Although his ideal position is as a right winger, where Bukayo Saka plays, Arteta believes he can develop him as a great left winger. Conversations with Crystal Palace and Eberechi Eze are also ongoing. The relationships are positive between the parties, but Palace has set a fee of 65 million euros for its star player. Eze, like Madueke, is interested in joining Arsenal. However, it is not clear whether the club will be able to sign both wingers after completing the signing of Gyökeres, which should be the first to be completed. Arsenal will have to look for clubs for players like Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior, Reiss Nelson or Leandro Trossard in order to afford the signings of the wingers. The club will soon announce the signing of Christian Nørgaard from Brentford for 13 million euros and has already confirmed the deals for midfielder Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. Arsenal has also extended the contracts of defenders Gabriel and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
