Manchester United and Real Betis have finalized a definitive agreement for Antony, valued at 25 million euros (29.3 million dollars). The news, which arose after some complications, was finally resolved on the transfer deadline day.
The agreement stipulates that Betis will pay a fixed sum of 22 million euros, with the possibility of adding an additional 3 million euros in bonuses. Furthermore, Manchester United will retain 50% of any future transfer of the player.
Antony, who still had two years remaining on his contract after arriving from Ajax in 2022, has secured this transfer. United, for their part, has avoided making an additional payment to the Brazilian forward.Antony, 25 years old, leaves Old Trafford after playing 96 matches in three years, where he scored 12 goals. His last appearance with United was in January and he spent the second half of last season on loan at Betis.
His performance in the Spanish team, where he scored nine goals in 26 matches, convinced the management to formalize his transfer. He is expected to undergo a medical examination before finalizing personal terms.
Antony is still United’s second most expensive signing, surpassed only by Paul Pogba, who arrived for £86 million from Ajax.
The player was excluded from the pre-season tour of the United States and has been training separately at Carrington alongside other members of the team, including Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia.
