Ancelotti Confirms His Departure from Real Madrid and His Future in Brazil

Coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed his imminent departure from Real Madrid, sparking a stir in the world of football. The Italian coach, known for his successful career, has announced that his time at the white club is coming to an end, preparing the ground for a new stage in his career.

Ancelotti also revealed that he will take over as the coach of Brazil, a decision that marks a significant change in his professional career. The coach will take the reins of the Brazilian national team on May 26, once the LaLiga season with Real Madrid has concluded.

In a press conference, Ancelotti preferred not to go into details about the reasons for his departure from the Madrid club, leaving the official communication in the hands of Real Madrid. “Madrid will publish a statement when it deems appropriate, there is no problem,” he declared.

“It’s a great challenge, but until May 26th I am still the coach of Madrid. I want to finish this fantastic adventure well. Out of respect for this club, the fans, and the players, I am totally focused.”

Ancelotti avoided revealing when he knew he would leave Madrid, despite having a contract until June 2026. “What I talk about with the club is absolutely personal,” he stated.

The coach added that his departure is part of the nature of football: “Football, like life, is an adventure that begins and ends. When you arrive at Real Madrid, you know that one day it ends… I want to finish well here, that’s what my professionalism demands.”

Real Madrid’s defeat against Barcelona in the Clásico, leaving the team seven points behind the leader in the LaLiga table, put pressure on Ancelotti after a season with irregular results. The team was eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals and lost the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

Ancelotti explained that the departure is a mutual decision and that it could be beneficial for the club: “Perhaps it was time for a change, that’s all”.

The Italian coach, who has been linked to the Brazil national team manager position for a long time, did not reveal why the CBF felt the need to announce his signing on Monday, when his departure from Madrid had not yet been formalized.

Ancelotti denied feeling uncomfortable with the situation and concluded: “If I didn’t have to give this press conference today, it would be a fantastic day. I have to explain things that I don’t want to explain, and as I respect this shirt [of Real Madrid], I can’t”.

It is reported that Real Madrid is finalizing an agreement with Xabi Alonso to be Ancelotti’s successor. The club and Alonso want the coach to take charge of the team for next month’s Club World Cup in the United States.

When asked about the arrival of his former player, Ancelotti commented: “I have a lot of affection for Xabi Alonso. I don’t have much advice to give him, because he has all the tools to be a great coach in the future.”
