Amorim: “Manchester United is not yet ready to fight for the lead”

Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has expressed his concern after the 1-0 defeat against Everton, stating that his team is far from competing for the top spots in the Premier League. United, seeking to secure a Champions League spot with a win at Old Trafford, suffered an unexpected defeat against an Everton that played with ten men for a large part of the match. Amorim, visibly disappointed, admitted that his team “deserved to lose” and confessed his fear of reliving the bad run of last season, when United finished in 15th position.

The coach highlighted Everton’s combative attitude, even after Idrissa Gueye’s expulsion, and hopes to see that same determination in his players during training at Carrington.

Amorim emphasized the importance of fighting on the field, regardless of the circumstances. “Fighting is not a bad thing,” he stated. “It’s the show of wanting to recover the ball and prevent a goal.” The Manchester United, currently in tenth position in the Premier League, will face Crystal Palace on November 30.
