Patrick Agyemang close to signing for Derby County
American forward and Charlotte FC international player, Patrick Agyemang, is about to finalize his transfer to Derby County, an English Championship team, for a sum close to 7 million dollars, according to sources close to the matter.
Although sources confirm the agreement, they point out that the contract has not yet been signed.
Agyemang, 24, is currently concentrated with the United States national team for the Gold Cup, where the team will face Costa Rica in the quarterfinals on Sunday. In the tournament, he has scored two goals, including the decisive goal in the 2-1 victory over Haiti, which closed the group stage.In total, Agyemang has scored five goals in nine appearances for the US national team, all made since the beginning of this year.
Originally from East Hartford, Connecticut, Agyemang is in his third season with Charlotte FC, after playing at the collegiate level at Eastern Connecticut State and the University of Rhode Island. With Charlotte, he has recorded 17 goals and four assists in 59 league matches.
Currently, Charlotte holds the ninth position in the Eastern Conference, which consists of 15 teams, with 25 points in 19 matches.
Derby County seeks to improve its performance after finishing in 19th position last year, just one point above the relegation zone in the English second division.
