The Red Roses’ fans are facing an unexpected situation: the difficulty in acquiring the official jersey of the England women’s rugby team, shortly before the start of the Women’s Rugby World Cup. The scarcity of the kits, manufactured by Castore, has generated frustration among fans.
The high demand for the t-shirts, especially the special edition for the World Cup, has caused online stores to quickly run out of stock. This has led to some t-shirts being offered at inflated prices on platforms like eBay.
Castore, the brand in charge of production, issued a statement confirming the situation. “We can confirm that the official England Rugby World Cup shirts are currently in low availability, as fans continue to show their incredible support for the Red Roses.”2:33Can the Red Roses take a page out of the Lionesses Euro 2025 win?Noli Waterman and Maggie Alphonsi look ahead to England’s chances at the 2025 Women’s World Cup.It is understood that Castore made a mistake when ordering the jerseys, and the time needed to increase production would have exceeded the World Cup period.
Although fans will be able to purchase the shirts at stadiums, such as the Stadium of Light, the supply is expected to be limited.
Castore took over the manufacturing of the English team’s kits in April, replacing Umbro. While the regular Red Roses jersey, with O2 sponsorship, can still be purchased online, the special edition for the World Cup is the one that has sold out.
The tournament regulations prohibit teams from displaying their own sponsorships on the front of the jersey, so the jersey that the team will wear in the coming weeks will not have a sponsor, but it will have the World Cup emblem.
