Red Bull Expands its Sporting Domain: Acquires the Newcastle Red Bulls
The energy drink giant, Red Bull, has expanded its sports portfolio with the complete acquisition of the top-tier rugby team, the Newcastle Falcons. The news was confirmed on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s expansion strategy. As part of this new stage, the club has been renamed Newcastle Red Bulls, preparing for the start of next season. The company has stated that this initiative will adopt “the innovative approach that Red Bull has implemented in its sports projects around the world”. Red Bull already owns stakes in several soccer teams, including RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg, in addition to having a presence in Formula 1. Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp recently took on the role of Red Bull’s global head of football. Newcastle has won five major titles throughout its history, including the league championship in 1998.
