Mark Stone Returns to Action with the Golden Knights
The Golden Knights captain, Mark Stone, is back on the ice. After a wrist injury suffered last month, Stone participated in Wednesday’s morning practice and is ready to play against the Ottawa Senators. Stone was placed on the injured list on October 20. Before the injury, he had accumulated 13 points in his first six games, demonstrating his value to the team.Stone has been training with the Golden Knights’ affiliate team in the American Hockey League in Henderson. It’s good to have his energy back. He’s good on the bench. He’s a leader. It’s good to have him back. He makes our team better.
Bruce Cassidy, Coach
Although Stone was on the top line before the injury, he will play as center on the third line against the Senators, with Mitch Marner moving to the wing. Braeden Bowman, a 22-year-old rookie, will remain on the top line with Jack Eichel and Ivan Barbashev. Bowman has scored four goals and two assists in seven games. Coach Cassidy didn’t rule out the possibility of Stone returning to the first line in the future. If I didn’t have that, I’d probably be thinking more about Friday. Everything is healed. I had the practices I needed. I’m ready to play.
Mark Stone
Stone will replace Bowman in the main power play unit, which performed outstandingly with Stone in the lineup. The 33-year-old player has dealt with injuries in recent seasons, but is eager to return to action. Stone played 66 games last season, his most since the 2018-19 season.Let’s try it this way to start. They could both see tonight.
Bruce Cassidy, Coach
Every injury is frustrating. I don’t enjoy rehabilitation. Unfortunately, I’ve become good at it. I understand the best way to do it, but no rehabilitation is fun. I don’t wish it on anyone. I’m excited to be back.
