Ovechkin continues to make NHL history
In a night full of emotions, Alex Ovechkin continued his impressive legacy in the NHL, setting new records and climbing the historical lists. The Washington Capitals star led his team to a resounding victory over the Montreal Canadiens with a score of 8-4. Ovechkin shined with his thirty-third hat trick of his career, tying Brett Hull for fourth in NHL history. In addition, he added an assist, which allowed him to surpass Joe Sakic and position himself in tenth place on the all-time points list. With 10 goals in 21 games this season, Ovechkin extended his NHL record to 907 goals. The 40-year-old Russian player has a total of 1,643 points, surpassing Sakic by two.Ovechkin opened the scoring in the first period with a power-play goal, followed by an assist in the second period that gave the Capitals the definitive lead. In the third period, he scored two more goals, demonstrating his ability to make a difference in crucial moments.
