Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin has forged an alliance with a Russian technology company for the production of a film, series, or documentary about his outstanding career in the NHL.
Yandex and its streaming platform, Kinopoisk, were in charge of announcing this agreement last Tuesday.
Ovechkin, who surpassed Wayne Gretzky’s goal record last April, has a total of 897 goals, marking the start of the final season of his contract with the Capitals. Nearing the age of 40, Ovechkin, along with his representatives, has ceded the rights to adapt his career to Plus Studio, the producer of Yandex.
The player, originally from Moscow, began his professional career in the Russian league, currently known as the KHL. As part of this agreement, he is expected to participate in commercials and act as an ambassador for Yandex.
Ovechkin has developed his entire career in the NHL with the Washington Capitals, the team that selected him as the first pick in the 2004 draft, debuting in 2005. Since then, he has become the central figure of the franchise, assuming the role of captain since January 2010. His leadership was crucial in 2018, when he was named MVP of the playoffs, guiding the Capitals to their first Stanley Cup championship.
