In an exciting NHL encounter, Reilly Smith scored with only 0.4 seconds remaining on the clock, his shot deflected off the Edmonton forward Leon Draisaitl’s stick, securing a stunning 4-3 victory for the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 3.

This victory reduced Edmonton’s lead to 2-1 in the Western Conference semifinal series.

Connor McDavid had tied the game for the Oilers with a centering pass that bounced off defenseman Brayden McNabb’s skate with 3:02 remaining.

Previously, Corey Perry had given Edmonton an initial 2-0 lead. However, Nicolas Roy and Smith responded with goals in a span of 54 seconds at the end of the first period to tie the score.

William Karlsson gave the Golden Knights the lead with a goal at 2:55 of the second period, beating goaltender Stuart Skinner after a play with Noah Hanifin.

Adin Hill made 17 saves for Vegas.

Game 4 will be played on Monday night in Edmonton.

The game developed after Golden Knights’ Mark Stone left the game due to an upper-body injury.

Nicolas Roy, who had been fined but not suspended for a high-sticking penalty on Trent Frederic in overtime of Game 2, cut the deficit to 2-1 with a rebound with 4:43 remaining in the first period. Smith then scored with a backhand shot through Skinner’s legs, leaving 3:49 in the period.

Skinner stopped 20 shots, replacing in goal Calvin Pickard, who appeared to be in discomfort and was seen shaking his left leg after Vegas’ Tomas Hertl fell on his left pad in Game 2.
