Jack Hughes Leads Devils to Victory Over Maple Leafs

In an action-packed night, Jack Hughes shone with his third hat-trick in his NHL career, leading the New Jersey Devils to a resounding 5-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The match, played on Tuesday night, saw the Devils demonstrate their offensive prowess and their solidity on the court.

Cody Glass and Brenden Dillon also contributed goals for the Devils, while Jake Allen stood out in goal with 23 saves.

Jesper Bratt had three assists for the Devils, who have achieved five consecutive victories after starting the season with a defeat.

From the Maple Leafs, John Tavares and Matias Maccelli managed to score, but it wasn’t enough to counter the Devils’ attack. Anthony Stolarz made 30 saves, but Toronto’s defense had difficulty containing their rivals.

William Nylander had two assists for the Maple Leafs, who have suffered two consecutive losses and four in six games after a season-opening win.

Toronto took a 1-0 lead after the first period, but the Devils responded with three goals in the first five minutes of the second period, much to the disappointment of the home crowd at Scotiabank Arena.

Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev had to leave the game due to an upper-body injury during a penalty situation in the second period, after a collision with Devils center Dawson Mercer.

Toronto challenged New Jersey’s first goal for goaltender interference, but the initial decision stood. The Devils capitalized on the power play after the delay of game penalty, and Glass scored the second goal moments after Tanev left the ice.
