Gretzky Congratulated the Stars After Advancing to the Conference Finals
In the Dallas Stars’ locker room, hockey legend Wayne Gretzky congratulated the team after their advance to the Western Conference final for the third consecutive time. The Stars will face the Oilers, the team with which “The Great One” won four Stanley Cups.
“He said we’re facing a very good team now,” commented Jamie Benn, captain of the Stars.

Benn revealed it was a “cool” moment to have Gretzky in the locker room after the overtime win against Winnipeg, which secured the rematch against the Oilers in the Western final.
Stars coach Pete DeBoer also expressed his honor at receiving Gretzky.
“What a great honor to have the best player of all time come after the game and say hello,” said DeBoer.

Gretzky praised the Stars’ game and anticipated a matchup against “one of the best teams in history.” DeBoer, who shared time with Gretzky during the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament, highlighted Gretzky’s passion for hockey.
Gretzky, with four Stanley Cup titles with Edmonton in the 80s, is the all-time leader in points and assists in the NHL.
DeBoer indicated that Gretzky did not reveal who he was supporting, but did show respect for the Stars.
