Corey Perry will miss the start of the season with the Kings after knee surgery

Los Angeles Kings forward Corey Perry will be out of action for six to eight weeks due to knee surgery.

The news was confirmed by the Kings on Saturday, following the injury suffered on Friday while training at the team’s facilities.

The team is preparing for training camp, which will begin in less than a week. The first regular season game is scheduled for October 7 against the Colorado Avalanche.

Perry, 40, signed a one-year contract with the Kings this summer, worth $2 million, with incentives. This will be his 21st season in the NHL.

The player previously played for the Anaheim Ducks, before going through Dallas, Montreal, Tampa Bay, Chicago and Edmonton.

Perry has played in the Stanley Cup Final in five of the last six seasons. In 2007, he won the Stanley Cup title with the Ducks.

In his first 20 seasons, Perry accumulated 448 goals and 487 assists. He begins the 2025-26 season in 121st place on the NHL’s all-time scoring list. Last season, with Edmonton, he recorded 19 goals and 11 assists in 81 regular season games, as well as 10 goals and four assists in the playoffs.
