METAIRIE, LA. – Chase Young, the defensive end for the New Orleans Saints, is ready to debut this season against the New England Patriots this Sunday, after recovering from a calf injury. Alvin Kamara, the star running back, is also confirmed for the game, recovered from an ankle injury. Young missed the first five games of the season due to a calf injury, but has already returned to training.

Chase has done a lot. You’re very happy to see him on the field. He deserves it, he earned it. Nothing has been easy on this path for him, and he has had an excellent week of practice, he has done an excellent job and there will certainly be enthusiasm and excitement to see him go out there.

Kellen Moore, Saints Coach
Coach Kellen Moore highlighted that Young’s return will bring greater depth to the defensive team, which is currently ranked 14th in the league in terms of sacks. Carl Granderson leads the team with 4.5 sacks. More depth. Obviously, with Carl Granderson and Cameron Jordan taking a lot of reps, having Chase there will help a little with that rotation. Chris Rumph will also continue to play, so we feel like you now have four players who are rotating a good amount and I think that would be great to keep those guys fresh and ready. Kamara, for his part, assured that he feels good and has trained well during the week.

Just something in the game that I thought wasn’t really that serious. It really wasn’t that serious, just a little bit of pain.

Alvin Kamara
Cesar Ruiz (ankle), Juwan Johnson (ankle), Trevor Penning (ankle), and Justin Reid (concussion) were full participants in Friday’s practice and will play on Sunday. Isaac Yiadom (hamstring) has been ruled out for the game.
