In the exciting start of the preseason, the Baltimore Ravens achieved a 24-16 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The stellar performance of rookie LaJohntay Wester was the highlight of the match, who not only shone, but also predicted his great play.
Wester, with surprising audacity, anticipated his 87-yard return for a touchdown. “I had a great joint practice with them a couple of days ago and I was close to getting one in practice,” Wester commented. “After that, I called my father and said, ‘I feel like something big is coming on Thursday'”.In addition to his impressive return, Wester led the Ravens with 41 yards on two receptions, demonstrating his versatility on the field.
Selected in the sixth round of the draft, Wester demonstrated astonishing agility by dodging Colts defenders, running down the right sideline to the end zone. His playing style was reminiscent of the legendary Deion Sanders, who was his coach in Colorado.
Wester remembered a key piece of advice from Sanders about kick returns. “He would tell me to relax, be confident, and that was my world,” he explained.
Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell praised Wester, stating that “he will definitely do something big in the league as a kick returner”.
