Shooting at the Chiefs’ Facilities: Andy Reid’s Office Targeted

In May 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs’ training facilities were the scene of a shooting. Several shots hit the place, and one of them entered coach Andy Reid’s office while he was inside. Although no one was injured, authorities reported on Thursday that the case remains open and under investigation. According to sources, Reid was working alone in early May when a bullet fired from outside the building shattered the glass and left a hole in the window and blinds. The bullet lodged in a wall between his bathroom and the entrance door to his office. After the incident, the team installed bulletproof glass.

Two other shots hit the facilities, one on the third floor and another on an outdoor air conditioning unit. The incident, investigated as aggravated assault because the building was occupied at the time, was known by few within the organization.

Based on the investigation so far, there is no indication that this was an incident directed at any person or organization.

Statement from the Kansas City Police
Chiefs President Mark Donovan commented that the organization cooperated with the authorities. He highlighted the importance of security for staff, fans, and everyone involved with the organization. The Chiefs, led by Reid, won the Super Bowl championship and their third title in five years.
