3 Min Read

The 2025 season began with high expectations surrounding the quarterbacks. However, as we approach week 4, the uncertainty about who will stand out as the best prospect for the 2026 NFL draft remains high.

Analysis of the Quarterback Prospects

Alofoke Deportes conducted a survey among 25 NFL scouts and executives to find out their predictions about the most promising quarterback for the next draft. The results revealed a diversity of opinions, with seven different quarterbacks receiving votes for the QB1 position.
  • LaNorris Sellers from South Carolina led the voting with 8 votes.
  • Garrett Nussmeier from LSU received 7 votes.
  • Carson Beck from Miami and John Mateer from Oklahoma tied with 3 votes each.
  • Drew Allar from Penn State received 2 votes.
  • Sam Leavitt from Arizona State and Arch Manning from Texas received 1 vote each.

Despite some ups and downs in the performance of certain players, the quarterback class is considered superior to that of the previous season.

“It’s hard to choose so soon,” said a general manager.

Why LaNorris Sellers is the Favorite?

The survey highlights LaNorris Sellers as the initial favorite. A veteran scout commented on his qualities:

“He has the greatest physical talent. His ability to run and make plays with his feet is instinctive and he throws the ball quickly. He has a unique level of talent. His story and how he got here intrigue people. He has great toughness. He has the mentality, the intangibles, and the ability to run. He has the greatest potential to be an impactful player”.

The discussion between Sellers and Nussmeier centers on their physical attributes. Sellers, at 6 feet 3 inches and 240 pounds, fits the modern profile of quarterbacks who are a threat in the running game. Nussmeier, at 6 feet 1 inch and 205 pounds, is also considered a good athlete. Another talent scout praised Nussmeier: “It’s instinctive and finds a way. He has a great understanding of the position and a good arm.” Carson Beck has improved his performance in the current season, and a scout suggested:

“Let’s see if Beck can continue his resurgence, because he has enough skill”.

Mateer’s performance against Michigan convinced some scouts, as he also fits the dual-threat role. The general expectation is that Manning will stay another year in college. A talent scout commented on Manning:

“He has a lot of talent, from the talent in his arm to the understanding in his pocket, seeing the field and feeling it. He just needs to control everything and let the game slow down”.
