Cowboys Concern: Schottenheimer Addresses Micah Parsons’ Conduct
Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer revealed that he will meet with Micah Parsons to discuss his behavior during Friday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Parsons, who did not play due to seeking a contract extension, was seen on a medical stretcher behind the bench and without a uniform. Schottenheimer indicated that the team will handle internally any decision about Parsons’ future.Parsons underwent an MRI on his back on Friday, with “pretty clean” results, according to Schottenheimer. The player had mentioned back discomfort since June, although Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones downplayed the issue, suggesting it was part of contract negotiations. Schottenheimer is confident that Parsons will be available for the start of the season on September 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles, but the team will consider his status uncertain when assembling the 53-player roster. The coach also expects cornerback Trevon Diggs to be activated from the physically unable to perform list and be part of the team for the start of the season. Diggs is recovering from left knee surgery performed in January.Without talking to Micah, I need to find out what he was doing and why he was doing it. So, until I talk to him, I’m obviously not going to talk about it.

Diggs didn’t rule out playing in Week 1 against the Eagles, and the decision will be made jointly. Schottenheimer mentioned a possible “pitch count” if Diggs were available. Left tackle Tyler Guyton could return to practice this week after suffering a knee fracture on July 28, with an estimated recovery period of four to six weeks. Schottenheimer added that more will be known on Sunday about Guyton’s situation, and that he hopes he can participate in some activities on the field this week. These things don’t happen if you’re not dedicating time and effort to doing what you’ve been doing. Really proud of him.
