Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike has been ruled out for Monday’s game against the Detroit Lions due to a neck injury, according to coach John Harbaugh announced after Saturday’s practice. Madubuike, a two-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman, is one of the players the Ravens can least afford to lose due to the pressure he puts on the interior of the defensive line. Since the start of the 2023 season, he has recorded 21.5 sacks in 36 games. Harbaugh indicated that he couldn’t share many details about the injury, and the team isn’t sure when it occurred, although the symptoms manifested after Sunday’s 41-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns. The Ravens are determining the next course of action with Madubuike, who didn’t practice all week.
Rookie Aeneas Peebles, selected in the sixth round of the draft, is expected to get more playing time in the absence of Madubuike. Peebles has recorded one tackle in the two games he has played this season. The Ravens could also be without another important passer, outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy, who hasn’t practiced all week due to a hamstring injury. The injury report will be released later on Saturday. Madubuike has been one of the most consistent players for Baltimore and had not missed a game due to injury since his rookie season in 2020. This situation ends a streak of 55 consecutive games played by Madubuike. These injuries have affected the Ravens’ offense at an inopportune time. Baltimore will face the Lions’ offense, which scored 52 points last week in a victory over the Chicago Bears.“It’s something they’re investigating,” Harbaugh stated. “He presented symptoms after the game. They are dealing with the symptoms and running tests at the moment. Therefore, he will be ruled out for this encounter and they are trying to get to the bottom of the situation.”
