Tre’von Moehrig Suspended for Hit on Jauan Jennings
Carolina Panthers safety Tre’von Moehrig has been suspended for one game without pay for hitting San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings in the groin area during Monday night’s game. A source revealed that Moehrig will appeal the sanction. The appeal will be resolved by Derrick Brooks, Ramon Foster, or Jordy Nelson, the hearing officers jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFL Players Association. If the suspension is upheld, Moehrig will miss the Panthers’ game against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday. Television cameras captured the moment Moehrig hit Jennings in the groin during the game the 49ers won 20-9. Jennings did not react immediately and asked the referees to penalize Moehrig. However, Jennings responded after the game with a quick, open-handed slap to Moehrig’s mask. The NFL did not sanction Jennings on Tuesday.San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan called Moehrig’s act a “cheap shot”.I was just responding to childish behavior.
