Najee Harris Ready for Season Start with the Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris is slated to start the season this Friday against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to an announcement made by coach Jim Harbaugh on Wednesday. Harris, who missed all of training camp due to an eye injury sustained in a fireworks accident, has been reported as a full participant in practice.

“He says he’s ready and seems to be ready to play,” Harbaugh commented. “It’s hard to predict how much he’ll play. He’s going to play football and give it his all. That’s the mentality.”

Harris was on the field with his teammates on Wednesday, participating in a light session, hours after the team arrived in São Paulo. During practice, Harris used a helmet with a tinted visor, a practice he has maintained throughout the summer. On Monday, Harris stated that he didn’t care what people might think about his injury, describing it as “superficial.” He has participated in only six practices with the Chargers.

“I’m preparing for it, trying to get back in shape for football,” Harris said on Monday. “I feel good and we’ll see how it goes.”
