Alonso Leads Mets to Victory Over Braves
In a game played at Citi Field, the New York Mets achieved a resounding 4-0 victory over the Atlanta Braves, closing out a four-game series this Thursday.
Pete Alonso was the key figure of the game, connecting three hits, including a run batted in, to guide his team to victory. This result allowed the Mets to split the series and temporarily regain the lead in the National League East Division, surpassing the Philadelphia Phillies by half a game.

The day had a bittersweet taste for the New Yorkers due to Griffin Canning’s injury.
The opener had to leave the game in the third inning due to an apparent injury to the Achilles tendon in his left ankle. Manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed that he will undergo medical tests to determine the severity of the injury.
Despite Canning’s departure, the Mets’ bullpen responded effectively. Four relievers combined to allow only two hits for the rest of the game. Austin Warren (1-0) earned the win, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing a single hit.
Dominicans Juan Soto and Ronny Mauricio had outstanding performances with the bat. Soto went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, while Mauricio went 1-for-4. For the Braves, Marcell Ozuna also hit a single, and Ronald Acuña Jr. failed to get a hit in four at-bats. Francisco Lindor, from Puerto Rico, contributed with a single and a run scored.
